Challenge

Poaching and destroying wildlife natural habitats by setting bush fires, cutting down trees for timber and firewood have triggered Human-Elephant conflicts involving 3068 elephants and over 3000 people living in Matongo and Mwantimba villages in Bariadi district. Every night elephants raid villages destroying crops and injuring or killing people. The villagers retaliate by killing the mammals. On average 2 elephants and 1 man die in the conflicts every year in the village

Solution

To address the situation the project aims at:- 1. Providing wildlife education to village communities 2. Mitigating the conflict by repelling elephants from entering villages by using chill peppers. 3. Establish marking boundaries slabs that will control human activities from destroying wildlife land. 4. Trees cutting down for firewood will be served and the atmosphere since wood efficient stove use less woods and issues less smock

Long-Term Impact

By implementing the above mentioned objectives;- 1. No more Human Elephant Conflict in the villages 2. Causalities caused by human and elephant interaction will end 3. Land will be preserved from being destructed by human and caring for wildlife elephants and others 4. Poachers and loggers will be monitors since who ever go above the slabs entering the Serengeti ecosystem will be counted as criminal 5. The use of wood efficient stove will care for climate and forest.
