Karibu Cultural Contact from Tanzania plans to set up 30 creative hubs to provide free creative entrepreneurship and life skills to 900 disadvantaged youth who hail from the poorest local communities. These drift to urban areas in search of jobs. Unfortunately become hawkers, some are sexually abused and infected with HIV/AIDS. The project seeks to tackle poverty, youth unemployment challenges, contribute to economic development, and promote new creative career pathways and digital technology.
Poverty, unemployment, teenage pregnancy, HIV, human and gender based violence and lack of adequate opportunities to inspire young to engage in work based learning competency and develop their creative potential and skills through arts education, thus, obtain their dreams of better lives are the main challenges confronting young people in Tanzania. Hence, a way of building and maximizing their flexibility towards creative career pathways, shackle away from poverty, unemployment challenges.
We use reflective learning and scouts model of cascade training and public-private partnership as ownership model. The beneficiaries will also be involved in business skills training, incubation and acceleration programs, and networking opportunities. A feature of our project is created on growth model whereby we are to host a diverse community of entrepreneurs, practitioners, investors and organization to help in wise decision making about lives of beneficiaries from a value based perspective.
The project will educate 900 disadvantaged and talented young people gender balance, help them rise out of poverty; promotion of creative workforce, creative economy and make them get self employed for the betterment of their lives and their families health and well-being. The creative hubs as creative incubation spaces will keep on nurturing talents; connecting key actors across sectors also make them collaborate on common challenges.
