Ninety One Young Female Tailors to Support

By Michelle Joy | Project Leader

Dear Friend,

Development Alert is proud to support young women in building sustainable livelihoods through vocational skills development. As part of our commitment to youth economic empowerment, we have so far supported 9 young female tailors to establish their own tailoring businesses.

Each of these young women was provided with a brand-new sewing machine and start-up fabrics, enabling them to begin work immediately and generate a stable income. This support has created pathways to permanent employment, financial independence, and improved household livelihoods.

Beyond equipment, the initiative also focuses on skills strengthening, confidence building, and encouraging entrepreneurship among young women in rural communities. Tailoring provides a practical and accessible opportunity for income generation, especially for those with limited formal employment options.

Key Impact Highlights

  • 9 young female tailors supported to start tailoring businesses
  • 9 brand-new sewing machines provided for immediate production
  • Start-up fabrics supplied to enable business launch
  • Permanent income opportunities created for young women
  • Increased financial independence and self-reliance

This initiative is part of our broader goal to support 100 young tailors across rural Uganda. While 9 have been reached so far, 91 more young tailors remain to be supported.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dear supporters whose generosity has made this progress possible. Thank you so much for walking this journey with us.

Your continued support will help us reach the remaining young tailors, expand opportunities, and transform more lives through skills development and entrepreneurship.

Together, we can continue building a future where young women are empowered, skilled, and economically independent.
