Final Report

By Tuangsiri Kanisthananda | International Partnerships Coordinator

Dear valuable supporters,

With deep gratitude, we would like to thank all the generous donors who supported the Emergency Fund for Myanmar project through the GlobalGiving platform. Your contributions have made a real difference in the lives of displaced people affected by conflict in Shan State, Myanmar.

As of June 2025, approximately 190 displaced individuals (93 men, 97 women, including children) from Lawsawk Township in Shan State who are now taking shelter in a monastery in Mandalay. These individuals are not yet confident about returning to their original homes due to ongoing instability. Many of them were daily wage laborers before the conflict, living in rental rooms and facing poverty. Now, they are left without homes or secure livelihoods.

AAT responded to their continued needs by providing emergency food supplies in mid-June 2025, using funds raised through GlobalGiving. Our team traveled to Lawsawk to deliver the assistance. The support helped sustain the basic daily needs of the displaced individuals, many of whom still require ongoing help.

Several challenges remain:

  • The displaced people still need regular food assistance to survive day to day.
  • Many parents are worried about their children’s education, as schools in Northern Shan State have not reopened or operate inconsistently.
  • Budget for food and essential items is unstable—some months see no support at all, while others may receive limited donations.
  • There is also a pressing need for a separate structure (shelter hall) to be built for the displaced people, as they are currently sharing space within the monastery.

At present, all food expenses for the refugees—more than 100 people—are being managed by the monks at the monastery. Donations are used on a daily basis to provide meals until external support can be secured.

Project Transition
We would like to inform you that this project will now be officially closed on the GlobalGiving platform. Moving forward, we will continue our fundraising efforts for displaced people in Myanmar through the HelloAsso platform.

Once again, we sincerely thank you for your kind support and solidarity during this humanitarian crisis. Your contributions have helped provide critical food and support to those in desperate need.

We hope you will continue to stand with us in the next chapter of our work.

Warm regards,
The AAT Team
