Myanmar Shan State Conflict Emergency Fund

The situation in Shan State remains highly unstable due to ongoing internal troop conflicts. These clashes have resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis, leaving countless families in desperate need of immediate assistance. Thousands of people have been displaced, making them vulnerable to violence, hunger, and disease. Many families are facing the loss of loved ones, homes, and livelihoods.

The conflict has also led to the obstruction of key roadways, severely hindering the delivery of aid to affected areas. In addition, Typhoon Yagi struck Shan State late last year, compounding the devastation. The storm caused widespread damage, with numerous families losing their homes and belongings. The storm also severely impacted the region’s agricultural sector, destroying farms that serve as the primary source of income for many families.

Thanks to your generous support, we have been able to provide emergency survival and food supplies to some affected children, women, and their families, particularly in areas where food shortages have become critical.

Continued Fighting:

While Northern Shan State has decreased its large-scale ground battles, the Myanmar military is still using airstrikes and bombings to target ethnic armed groups, keeping the region tense. In both Southern and Northern Shan States, ambushes continue to disrupt stability and security. Meanwhile, Rakhine and Kachin States face relentless violence, with battles fought both on the ground and from the air, escalating in certain hotspots. These ongoing conflicts not only endanger lives but also add to the growing humanitarian crisis.

Civilian Challenges:

Many displaced families are unable to return to their homes due to insecurity. Travel across conflict zones has become increasingly dangerous and costly. Many routes are blocked, forcing individuals to take longer and less secure detours. Fuel price hikes and damaged infrastructure further complicate logistics, creating significant obstacles for humanitarian aid and commerce.

Natural Disaster:

Typhoon Yagi, Asia's biggest storm of the year, has caused severe flooding and landslides, displacing thousands of families in Shan State, Myanmar. AAT is now seeking funds and donations to support these families, including our affected volunteers.
