FoodBlessed Ramadan Relief Plan 2026 Report

By MAYA TERRO | Cofounder and Executive Director at FoodBlessed

What We’ve Raised & What We’ve Accomplished

During the holy month of Ramadan 2026, we successfully raised $10,903.76 in support of FoodBlessed’s humanitarian and emergency relief efforts across Lebanon.

Originally, the amount raised was intended to support various Ramadan activities planned throughout the holy month. However, these plans were significantly disrupted due to the sharp escalation of attacks on Lebanon and the resulting mass displacement crisis affecting the country.

By mid-Ramadan 2026 (roughly mid-March), over 1 million people—approximately 14% to 18% of Lebanon’s population—had been displaced within just two weeks following intensified hostilities that began in early March 2026.

Key Developments During the Crisis

  • Rapid displacement: More than 1 million individuals were forced to flee their homes in a very short period of time.
  • Affected areas: The majority of displaced families fled southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs due to heavy airstrikes and evacuation orders.
  • Living conditions: Thousands of families spent Ramadan in overcrowded shelters, schools, informal tented settlements, or out in the open with limited access to food and basic necessities.
  • Scale of impact: The crisis quickly became one of the largest and fastest displacement emergencies Lebanon has witnessed, placing enormous pressure on humanitarian actors and local infrastructure.
  • Continued displacement: By early May 2026, the number of documented displaced individuals exceeded 1.1 million people.

In response to the rapidly changing situation, FoodBlessed adapted its Ramadan response plan to address the growing emergency needs on the ground.

>>Ramadan Monthly Family Food Assistance Parcels ($8,900)

Before the escalation of the war, FoodBlessed successfully prepared and distributed 700 wholesome Monthly Ramadan Food Assistance Parcels to a total of 4,216 vulnerable beneficiaries across Tripoli, Akkar, West Bekaa, and the suburbs of Beirut.

The distributions took place over a four-week period leading up to Ramadan, with the final distribution occurring during the first week of the holy month.

The total amount required to achieve this goal was $18,900. Of this amount, $8,900 came directly from this fundraiser, while the remaining $10,000 was secured through an additional grant that enabled us to complete the distributions successfully.

These food parcels contained essential non-perishable food items carefully selected to help vulnerable families maintain access to nutritious and culturally appropriate meals throughout the holy month of Ramadan amid worsening economic and humanitarian conditions.

Each parcel included staple food commodities such as rice, pasta, lentils, beans, canned goods, cooking oil, sugar, salt, tea, tomato paste, and other pantry essentials intended to sustain a family for an extended period. In the spirit of Ramadan, the parcels also included traditional items commonly consumed during iftar and suhoor, such as dates and jallab, helping families preserve a sense of dignity, tradition, and normalcy despite the difficult circumstances they were facing.

>>Iftar Meal Distribution & Emergency Relief ($2,003.76)

In the first days of March 2026, Lebanon entered another dangerous chapter of conflict following a sharp escalation of violence. At the time, there were only two weeks remaining until the end of Ramadan.

FoodBlessed had originally planned to organize three community iftars during this period. However, given the rapidly deteriorating situation and increasing displacement, we immediately redirected the allocated budget toward emergency food relief efforts.

Thanks to this fundraiser, FoodBlessed successfully provided 3,000 hot iftar meals to displaced fasting families living in informal tented settlements without access to kitchens, primarily in the Biel and Tayouneh areas, as well as in various shelters across Beirut.

These meals ensured that displaced families were able to break their fast and have suhoor with dignity during an incredibly difficult and traumatic period. Each meal represented more than nourishment—it was a reminder that even during war and displacement, compassion and solidarity still exist.

>>Community Service & Civic Engagement

This campaign mobilized an incredible network of volunteers and community members who came together during one of Lebanon’s most difficult times.

A total of 100 volunteers contributed their time, energy, and compassion to help make this project possible—from packaging food parcels and preparing meals to coordinating logistics and supporting distributions on the ground.

Their commitment reflects the strength and resilience of community-led humanitarian action.

What’s Next

Moving forward, and in the hope that the current war will have come to an end, this campaign will continue to provide life-saving food assistance during Ramadan 2027 through:

  • Iftar meal distributions
  • Monthly Food Assistance Parcels

with a particular focus on:

  • Families living in extreme poverty
  • Elderly individuals with limited access to food and support
  • Persons with disabilities facing additional barriers to securing meals
  • Displaced and vulnerable communities across Lebanon

Final Thoughts & How You Can Help

Thank you to everyone who stood with us during these incredibly difficult times. Your support allowed us to respond quickly and compassionately to families facing unimaginable hardship.

Yet despite everything achieved so far, the road ahead remains extremely challenging, and our work is far from over.

FoodBlessed remains committed to ensuring that no one is left behind—long after the headlines fade and the crisis is no longer in the spotlight.

If you would like to continue supporting vulnerable communities across Lebanon, we invite you to contribute to our 2026 FoodBlessed Emergency Relief Plan, which aims to respond to the rapidly growing humanitarian needs resulting from the ongoing crisis and displacement across the country.

Through this initiative, FoodBlessed will deliver a comprehensive emergency response targeting vulnerable and displaced families struggling to meet their most basic needs. Key interventions include shelter support, food assistance (including hot meals, ready-to-eat kits, and monthly food parcels), baby essentials (such as diapers and infant formula), life-saving medications, and hygiene kits.

Through this integrated response, we aim not only to provide immediate relief but also to restore dignity, stability, and hope to families navigating extremely difficult circumstances.

Every contribution, no matter the size, is a gesture of hope.
