Entrepreneurs Gain Skills at National Training

By Tessa Bryant | Grants Manager

In November 2022, 13 representatives from eight DfG Social Enterprises in Nepal attended a 3-day training workshop focused on many business topics, including the following:

  • Social enterprise best practices
  • Vision casting and business planning
  • Marketing and sales
  • Advocacy: The national, regional and global, including linking the importance of advocacy to marketing to catapult and increase sales
  • Sewing and quality control
  • Fabric choices and washable standards
  • Navigating and complying with Nepal laws and regulations
  • Supply chain management
  • Their contribution to DfG impact in Nepal and internationally
  • Case studies for success

Enterprise leaders were inspired to take ownership of their businesses and felt empowered to go back to their local communities independently to implement new skills learned. Some highlights from the entrepreneurs:

“I learned the difference between advocacy and marketing. I learned different ways of doing advocacy.... things to consider that will help me grow my enterprise in a different way."

"I learned that it is necessary to build relationships first, to run an enterprise. We should not just meet and talk about our enterprises alone. We have to get to know the people we are trying to build relationships with so that they can trust us and want to work with our enterprise. From this training, I understood what marketing really is."

Days for Girls International staff also recently visited three enterprises in Nepal to provide additional support. The DfG team identified strengths and gaps for future support while providing one-on-one recommendations and training.

Enterprise leaders and members requested further training and collaboration with the DfG Enterprise and Advocacy departments in 2023. Support for these trainings will further equip DfG Nepal enterprises to become independent, thriving businesses that provide ongoing menstrual health support in their communities.

Your support has been instrumental in this wonderful progress for DfG Enterprises in Nepal, and we are so grateful!
