Thank you. Your generosity keeps our doors open for mothers and children who have lost their homes, safety, or income due to the war. This autumn, your support ensured immediate shelter, protection services, and child-friendly activities across our safe spaces.
What your donations made possible
Safe accommodation & essentials: Emergency beds, hot meals, hygiene items, clothing, and transit support for families arriving with very little.
Protection & case management: Individual safety planning, accompaniment to services, and referrals to social workers, health providers, and legal aid.
Psychosocial support: One-to-one counseling for caregivers and play-based sessions for children to reduce anxiety, rebuild routine, and strengthen coping skills.
Child-friendly learning corners: Age-appropriate books, art materials, and guided activities that help children regain a sense of normalcy and curiosity.
Legal & livelihoods guidance: Help with documents, benefits, and job search steps so families can stabilize and move forward.
Olena’s story (name changed)
Olena and her 6-year-old daughter arrived at our shelter after weeks of bouncing between relatives and temporary rooms. On the first evening, her daughter joined a small art session while Olena met our case manager. Over the next days, they received counseling, warm meals, and help replacing lost documents. With our team’s support, Olena found part-time work in a nearby kitchen and secured a modest rental. They still visit for counseling and children’s activities—but they now sleep in their own beds. That first safe night made the rest possible.
How funds were used this period
Direct assistance to families: food, hygiene, clothing, transport, short-term accommodation
Operations of safe spaces: rent, utilities, basic maintenance, and safety supplies
Staffing & services: case management, counselors, child facilitators, and legal consultations
Child well-being: learning materials, art/therapy kits, group activities
(We change names and omit identifying details to protect the privacy and safety of families.)
What’s next
As temperatures drop, our priorities are:
Winterization: heating costs, warm clothing, blankets, and thermoses;
Psychosocial care: more counseling hours and trauma-informed group sessions;
Family transitions: small grants or starter kits that help families move from shelter to stable housing;
Emergency transport: support for families reaching our centers safely.
