Skill Up: Digital Education for Cameroon's Youth

We’re delighted to share an update on the ongoing session at the Thrive Center in Douala, Cameroon! This transformative program began on September 28, 2024, and will run until April 12, 2025. With 125 enthusiastic students participating, the session has been a remarkable journey of learning, growth, and empowerment.

Program Highlights:

Over the past few months, the students have fully immersed themselves in a diverse range of courses designed to equip them with the critical skills needed to thrive in today’s world. The energy, curiosity, and excitement they bring to the classroom have been truly inspiring.

Our curriculum includes:

• Girls in Tech: A program empowering young girls to excel in technology, launched in partnership with Technovation.
• AI with Python: Introducing students to artificial intelligence and programming fundamentals.
• Network Administration: Providing essential IT networking skills.
• Microsoft Office: Building proficiency in productivity tools.
• Web Development: Offering hands-on experience in designing and managing websites.
• Career Launch Program: Helping students prepare for future careers with essential skills and guidance.
• Green Warriors: Encouraging students to engage in environmental sustainability and stewardship.

The students are making incredible progress, mastering new skills, and building confidence that will prepare them for academic and professional success.

They are not only learning technical and life skills but also growing as confident individuals ready to embrace the opportunities of the future. We are excited to share an update on our Thrive Center’s Youth Development and Empowerment Program. We recently completed our second session in August 2024, and the impact has been truly inspiring.

Session Highlights:

• We welcomed 85 students, aged 12-21, who participated in training focused on English proficiency, digital skills, and career readiness.
• This second session saw tremendous enthusiasm from both students and their families, especially during our closing ceremony. Several students received awards, including backpacks and additional prizes, for their outstanding performance. The gratitude expressed by the children was heartwarming.
• We continue to prioritize environmental stewardship as part of our curriculum, aiming to foster future leaders who are not only skilled but also environmentally conscious.

Outcomes:

• All 85 students gained foundational knowledge in IT and artificial intelligence, preparing them for the evolving digital landscape.
• Feedback from students and parents has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their excitement to continue with the program.
