Summary

In the early morning hours of Monday, August 14th in Freetown, Sierra Leone, massive landslides and flooding hit across the city. Hundreds have died already, and the poorest of the poor are the worst affected. More heavy rain is forecasted, and we must do something very fast to save lives. We have resources on the ground in Freetown to help provide food, water, clothing, medical help, and temporary housing. Please join us and help to bring hope to the survivors.

Challenge

The flooding has affected everyone in Freetown, including the areas of Lumley (where our headquarters in Sierra Leone is based), Regent, Samba Gutter, Kroontown Road, Kroo Bay, Congo Cross, and more. The poorest of the poor are worst affected, but even the wealthier prefectures have been hit. Houses were washed away, roads are blocked, bridges collapsed, and many hundreds have died. Nobody can get in or out. We are searching for the missing. More rain is forecasted.

Solution

We can provide food, water, clothing, medical help, a place to sleep, and other supplies to those affected by the flood. Please join us to bring hope to those who survived. "In my years of being a first responder in horrible situations like this (Turkish earthquake, etc.) it was remarkable the days we got supplies to be able to go and distribute because someone around the world decided to give. Please act!"

Long-Term Impact

By providing immediate aid to those affected by flooding, we have the potential to save more lives and provide for rebuilding for those who lost their homes.
