Dear Darfur Women Network Family,
On behalf of the Darfur Women Network (DWN), I extend our heartfelt gratitude for your compassionate support, concern, and generous donation. Your contribution has been instrumental in providing economic empowerment services to displaced and vulnerable families in the camps of South Darfur, Sudan.
I apologize for the delay in this report. The people of Darfur have been deeply traumatized by an ongoing genocide that has spanned decades, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands and the displacement of millions. Every day, the number of civilian casualties rises while the world remains silent.
Since April 15th, the Rapid Support Force (RSF) has seized control of four states in Darfur, with the exception of El-Fasher in North Darfur. The RSF has committed numerous atrocities, including the killing of unarmed civilians, destruction of government buildings, looting, occupation of civilian homes, blocking of internet services, and the disruption of communication. Many civilians have fled the region, becoming displaced or refugees. However, some families remain trapped, facing dire conditions with no source of income and the constant danger of isolation in Darfur.
The RSF's attacks have rapidly spread across Sudan, plunging the entire country into a state of collapse and causing immense suffering for the people. The RSF has employed rape and other forms of sexual violence as tactics of war, alongside machine gun and heavy military attacks on civilians. Gender-based violence, including abductions and sexual slavery, has been confirmed against women and girls by RSF fighters. These atrocities are considered war crimes and crimes against humanity.
We are reaching out to you with an urgent appeal. Together, we can provide the basic needs to those trapped in the country to help them survive. With your continued compassionate support, generous donations, and kindness, we can assist those in these devastating situations.
Thank you once again for standing with us and supporting the people of Darfur during these challenging times.
Sincerely,
Mastora Bakhiet
Darfur Women Network
