 The Soap-Making Report

 Dear Darfur Women Network's family,

On behalf of the Darfur Women Network, DWN, I would like to thank you for your kindness, passion, and your generous donation. Without your contribution, DWN could not provide economic empowerment services to displaced and vulnerable families in the camps in South Darfur, Sudan.

The Darfur Women Network staff and beneficiaries, the survivors of genocide in Darfur who were living in displaced camps are grateful for the generous support from our partner, GlobalGiving, and our donors.

Your support provided our beneficiaries access to soap-making and entrepreneurship skills training which enabled them to run successful soap-making businesses to empower displaced women from four camps to earn income and improve their livelihood.

Since April 15th, the Rapid Support Force (RSF) has seized four states in Darfur. In addition to the genocide crimes committed by the RSF, some of their crimes include killing unarmed civilians, destruction of government buildings, looting, and occupying civilians’ homes, blocking of the internet, and the inexistence of communication companies. Most of the civilians left the region for refugee camps in Chad, Uganda, and South Sudan. Some families are trapped in Darfur because of a lack of money, and no source of income and it is dangerous to stay in Darfur. We lost contact with our beneficiaries, the displaced who are the survivors of genocide in Darfur.

I would like to ask our donors, to help us to take action. My suggestion is to deactivate our Soap making Project on GlobalGicing until the insecurity situation improves. We need to hear from our donors and listen to their opinions before coming to a decision.

Thank you for your kindness, your commitment, and your generous donation.
