It doesn't matter if the covid 19 pandemic becomes more aggressive or if contagion chaos descends, while this happens cases of violence against women and girls continue to reach our organization.
Partial confinement stokes the stress and stress caused by concerns related to safety, health, parenting and money. It also strengthens the isolation of women who have violent partners, separating them from the people and resources that can best help them.
It is the perfect situation to engage in controlling and violent behavior at home and even worse for Venezuelan and Colombian migrant women who have greater restrictions on the exercise of rights. At the same time, the health and protection system in Ecuador is limited, aggravating the service deficit by retraining these centres in order to provide an additional response to COVID.
Even before COVID-19 existed, domestic violence was already one of the most common human rights violations. Currently we have more than 100 cases legally accompanied and receiving psychosocial accompaniment.
The frequency of sexual violence against children is also maintained, so our work with or without support cannot be stopped. However, your momentum is critical to achieving greater reach and effectiveness.
Thank you for taking part.
