Dear all Alhassan Foundation’s friends, believers & supporters,
Alhassan foundation is inviting you all to celebrate Spinal Cord Injury Day! This day was first initiated by international Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) to observe ‘Spinal Cord Injury Day’ on 5th September every year with the intention of increasing awareness amongst the general public. This year’s slogan is ‘Living Life to the Fullest’.
Some think that life stops after a spinal cord injury that leads people to be permanent wheelchair users. We seek to differ, you can live your life to the fullest and enjoy the activities you love. Yes, it’s a challenge and not an easy one but what is life without some challenges.
Alhassan here is living proof of this year’s slogan. After the traumatic accident he’s been through as a teenager that caused him paraplegia, he decided that his life isn’t going to end there. He traveled abroad, and started playing wheelchair basketball. Not only that, but also he pursued his bachelor then masters degree and he does various fun activities that he enjoys. Alhassan’s vision is to get back to Egypt to start a national wheelchair basketball team in Egypt.
As a social awareness initiative, we hold gatherings every 2 to 3 months throughout Egypt to raise awareness about PWD’s rights and needs; helping wheelchair users adopt the “Yes I Can” attitude and instill the concept that you’re not disabled you are Differently Abled.
We encourage you to continue supporting us and staying loyal donor to our causes through subscribing to a monthly recurring donation option. That will help wheelchair users in Egypt be more independent and successful. Please visit our Facebook page to read other success stories:
