As part of its effort to contribute to further developing the social enterprise ecosystem in the country, De La Salle University’s Lasallian Social Enterprise for Economic Development (LSEED) Center has initiated partnerships with several institutions. Its partnership with the Ateneo Center for Social Entrepreneurship (ACSEnt) will explore joint efforts in the promotion of social entrepreneurship and sustainability among higher education institutions, mobilization of internal and external stakeholders, and sharing of good practices. Its engagement with the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship otherwise known as Go Negosyo will facilitate mentoring and coaching sessions for start ups and social enterprises. On the other hand, the active membership of LSEED Center as a founding member of the National Association of Social Enterprise Educators and Administrators with its founding director as chairperson currently facilitates capacity building activities among members schools and institutions nationwide, directly contributing to a roadmap on social enterprise development.
Other programs of LSEED Center in areas of student formation & SE development, curricular & co-curricular integration, research, internship & volunteerism, and advocacy & internationalization directly contribute to the localization of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. It is worth noting that in July 2023, De La Salle University through LSEED Center was named as 1st runner for the Sustainable Development Goals Initiative of the Year for Asia Pacific by the Accreditation for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities Triple E Awards. The award recognizes an initiative that significantly differs from standard practice and has created exceptional results for achieving the UN SDGs. LSEED Center Founding Director Dr. Norby Salonga was also named the Entrepreneurship Educator of the Year in Asia Pacific. The award ceremony was held in Barcelona, Spain. ACEEU is an international and the only body specializing in acknowledging and fostering entrepreneurial and engaged potential of universities on institutional and divisional levels.
