10 Years of Lasallian Social Entrepreneurship

By Norby Salonga | Founding Director, LSEED Center

On March 11, 2026, the Lasallian Social Enterprise for Economic Development (LSEED) Center hosted back-to-back anniversary events. In the morning, it commemorated its 10th anniversary through the Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Lasallian Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainability held at the Villavicencio Boardroom, Henry Sy Sr. Hall, De La Salle University.
The partnership, led by LSEED, brought together De La Salle University (DLSU), the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), the British Council Philippines, and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to strengthen collaboration in advancing social entrepreneurship and sustainability initiatives.
The event opened with a partnership overview by Dr. Norby Roque Salonga, Founding Director of the LSEED Center, followed by a message from Br. Bernard S. Oca, FSC, President of De La Salle University. Partner representatives shared messages of support.
Partner institutions commit to strengthening knowledge exchange, empowering communities, and developing impactful social enterprise initiatives that promote inclusive and sustainable growth. Through their expertise and resources, the partnerships are expected to advance programs and initiatives that foster responsible innovation, support social enterprises, and contribute to sustainable development. This milestone highlights the partner institutions' shared commitment to working collaboratively to build stronger ecosystems for social entrepreneurship and sustainability.
In the afternoon, the Center celebrated its 10th Anniversary at the Jose T. Pardo AFSC Hall, Henry Sy Sr. Hall, gathering partners, students, advocates, and members of the social enterprise ecosystem under the theme “Collective Action for the Future: Lasallian Social Entrepreneurship.”
During the program, Dr. Norby Roque Salonga, Founding Director of the LSEED Center and Associate Professor at the RVR College of Business, reflected on LSEED’s journey over the past decade, highlighting how the Center has grown into a platform that advances social entrepreneurship, community empowerment, and inclusive development through partnerships with communities, organizations, and students.
Dr. Salonga also shared new developments for the Center, including the launch of LSEED Insights and the signing of LSEED’s renewed Vision and Mission Statements, reinforcing the Center’s strategic direction in advancing Lasallian social entrepreneurship and sustainable development initiatives.
A milestone video presentation captured LSEED’s 10 years of impact, showcasing initiatives and collaborations that have strengthened the social enterprise ecosystem and sustainable livelihoods for communities.
As part of the celebration, ten LSEED partners were recognized for their continued collaboration in creating community-based enterprises and inclusive economic opportunities. Select stakeholders and partners shared their experiences working with LSEED. The Center also presented a Special Recognition Award to Br. Bernard S. Oca, FSC, President of De La Salle University. In his message, Br. Oca expressed his appreciation of the Center and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to empowering communities through social enterprise, innovation, and collaborative action in line with the Lasallian mission.
Ms. Fritzie Ian DeVera, Vice President for Lasallian Mission, underscored in her message the importance of strengthening partnerships and sustaining the Lasallian commitment to service, social innovation, and community transformation. The closing remarks were delivered by Prof. Anthony Shun Fung Chiu, Vice President for External Relations and Internationalization, who recognized the role of the LSEED Center across various areas, including internationalization.
As LSEED marks ten years of impact, the Center continues to champion social entrepreneurship as a pathway for inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainable community development.
