Kudvumisa Community Clinic's Solar Expansion
In 2022, a dream became a reality. With the help of generous donations, we proudly completed the installation of solar panels in our Maphiveni clinic, marking a big step towards clean, sustainable, and affordable energy. This innovative solution had a twofold purpose: becoming environmentally responsible and significantly cutting back on operational costs. We envisioned those savings translating directly into better patient care and outreach programs.
However, while incredibly grateful for the initial donations, we've encountered a hurdle. The current system isn't quite powerful enough to completely disconnect from the traditional grid. We've been using the solar panels alongside Eswatini Electricity Company's grid, and a large portion of our budget, roughly E5,000 monthly (about $275), still goes towards utility bills.
Here's the breakdown:
As you can see, there's a gap between our power generation and consumption. To truly achieve energy independence and maximize the positive impact on our community, we need more solar panels.
With your support, we can bridge this gap and free up even more funds for patient care and outreach. By harnessing the full power of the sun, we anticipate a substantial reduction in our monthly electricity bill. These savings will sow a seed for more resources for our patients enabling us to invest in essential medications, offer a wider range of life-saving treatments, and bring vital healthcare services to remote, rural areas. Can you imagine the impact? Every contribution, big or small, gets us closer to our goal. Please consider donating to our solar panel expansion project today.
