No Cold Chain, No Vaccines

By Joy O. Etubi | Project Leader

Rural clinics in Nigeria continue to face serious obstacles in storing vaccines safely. Without proper refrigeration, vaccines lose their strength, putting children and adults at risk of preventable diseases. This project was created to install solar-powered refrigerators in clinics where electricity is unreliable or absent.

At present, no donations have been received to begin the work. Clinics remain unable to keep vaccines at the required temperature. Health workers are forced to either send patients away untreated or risk using vaccines that are no longer safe.

The consequences are severe:

  • Children miss their immunizations, leaving them open to outbreaks.

  • Pregnant women cannot access vaccines that protect them and their newborns.

  • Health workers are frustrated, knowing lives are being lost due to lack of cold storage.

Diseases that can be prevented continue to spread in rural communities because of this gap. The longer we wait, the more children are left unprotected. A single solar-powered fridge in a rural clinic can safeguard thousands of doses of vaccines each year. With several installed, entire districts could see lasting change in child survival and maternal health.

We are appealing for your kind support to make this life-saving project a reality. Your contribution will directly fund the purchase and installation of solar-powered fridges in rural clinics. Every donation, no matter the size, takes us closer to preventing needless deaths and protecting families in forgotten communities.

This project is not yet funded. You could be among the first donors whose kindness will make history in these communities by keeping vaccines safe and ready for use.

Kind regards,
Etubi, Joy Ojochogwu
