Noe is in his final stages of his thesis project to design a solar dehydrator that preserves agricutlural products at scale, while protecting them from damage from dust and insects.
His first 32 pages of his thesis covers over 8 dehydrator designs employed in Latin America by universities and agricultural cooperatives. He covers the pros and cons of various design features and is narrowing in on his final design only after a series of interviews with organic farmers in two communities.
Noe is tasked with understanding the users' daily lifestyles, habits, tasks and attitudes in order to design a system that is easily integrated into their daily lives. He will interview lead farmers of two organic cooperatives with a plan to build the dehydrator and test it with them.
Athough COVID-19 delayed our visits and interviews until next month, the opening up of Guatemala will enable us to complete the design by the end of the year.
