Imagine living without connectivity and Internet access. We believe that technology should serve all of us equally. Our 2024's Challenges: 1. The Future's Library for 3 communities in Colombia: A public space where using Internet get people to access to education, digital literacy and create new opportunities, such as economic growth, for their community. 2. An open source "solutions guide" for Internet connectivity, so that people can learn how to solve their own challenges connecting.
People, especially the children, do not have a decent place to be able to connect to the internet in their community: internet signal is precarious, the public access point is fenced and closed. They can only connect in surroundings, from a cellphone, sitting in the dusty street or on top of a stone, no shadow... How to do homework? How to watch a movie or documentary all together? How to create a website for their tourism venture?
The SOLE Lab: a futuristic public space based on self-managed learning supported by technology (SOLE). Environmentally sustainable architecture and furnishing, it will be a happy, participatory and quickly-assembled environment where groups can learn, engage in dialogue across differences and collaborate, supported by the Internet, creating flourishing communities and a more equal and connected world. A open-source "solution-guide" to self-assess current challenges and seek enhanced Internet.
Boca de Camarones is already working on the sustainability of its SOLELab: community gathering, homework for kids, women weaving, promoting tourism and Internet connection. Dominguillo has 5 Ambassadors who are transforming their community through SOLE through 2023. Besides, 3 working circles in El Tambo: Women, Youth and Water, are working together to develop a better future. Both communities need a community space, with connectivity and free access, so they can keep creating their future.
