Spay and Neuter for 3,000 dogs in Romania

Dear Romania Animal Friends,

We focus on a number of villages, towns and cities in Romania to humanely reduce the unwanted animal population.  One of our main focuses is the city of Craiova.  We have been helping there for 7 years now, and have spayed over 15,000 animals.  We need to make this a No Stray City.  Will you help us?

Our dear friend and school teacher Carmen wrote this about Craiova:

"I am Carmen Georgescu from Craiova and I teach physics for gymnasium pupils. For more than 25 years I'm volunteering for helping stray animals. I've been involved in all sterilization campaigns organised by R.A.R. and ASNI in Craiova, under Nancy's coordination and in cooperation with Family Vet, campaigns that started 7 years ago. This were similar to military campaigns because only this kind of organization gives you the chance to sterilize 100 animals per day and sometimes even more. Romania can't solve the stray dogs problem on her own. We are increasingly many, those who understand the importance of stray sterilization, proof being the success that every sterilization campaign had. But this activity must go on both for strays and for dogs with owners. Each day us, the volunteers, are announced about new cases of abandoned puppies or kittens. Those are mainly unwanted animals born because of their poor or ignorant owners. A succesful sterilization campaign is the one that reduces the number of abandoned animals. It is an ongoing long term battle and we need your help to keep hold to our barricades"

Hello Dear Friends and Supporters!

We have exciting news!   Marleys Mutts of California will be sponsoring and sending a team of volunteers to help with our end of May Spayathon!  300 animals will be spayed and neutered during their visit.  Romania Animal Rescue is thrilled to welcome our friends!

We are now approaching 56,000 spays and neuters of both dogs and cats in Romania.  The Center of Hope is up and running and the Spay Shuttle is collecting animals from villages near the Center for spay and neuter.  Our goal is to spay and neuter 500 animals per month at the Center of Hope providing we can get the funding.  This is where we need your help please.

Each spay or neuter costs $25, and prevents thousands of puppies from being born.   This surgery also prevents the abandonment of pregnant or in heat females, and roaming of packs of male dogs to find a female.  Also, with this surgery, the sexually transmitted disease Sticker Tumor is non-existant.
