Dear generous donors and friends of Baark !
SPAY AND NEUTER UPDATE:
Your donation(s) to Baark! have gone towards funding the much needed spay and neuter surgeries which help improve the lives of thousands of dogs and cats across The Bahamas. You have helped us complete an amazing 2,085 total sterilizations so far for 2023.
Our mobile clinic Cleo has been based in various locations throughout Nassau the last few months including Historic Metropolitan Baptist Church on Hay St and Warboys House on Farrington Rd. which have high density animal populations. We’ve been welcomed in all neighborhoods with the local residents being excited by our presence and happily bringing in their pets for spay and neuter. In Cleo we were able to complete:
April = 217 fixes
May = 195 fixes
June = 265 fixes
Attached is a flyer for our July mobile clinic location, we distribute these and share on social media to get the word out.
Another story to share with you from the South Beach area, a lovely guy there we found had 22 dogs ! He loves them all dearly but we all felt that 22 was enough to care for :) Baark! was able to spay/neuter all of these dogs, not only with assisting with costs but getting them to and from the vet for their surgeries. We will also be going back to collect and fix the puppies when they are old enough.
FAMILY ISLAND CLINICS
The beginning of this quarter we did a lot of work on the family islands, hosting MASH clinics at various locations.
1-5th March clinic in South Andros. Here we sterilized 88 dogs and cats.
23-2th March clinic in Governers Harbour, Eleuthera. 121 spay and neuters completed.
12-15th April, Mangrove Cay, Andros. 115 fixes in total comprising of 80 dogs and 35 cats.
In addition to spay and neuter, we offer a wellness clinic for animals to get any vaccinations they need plus flea / tick medication and heartworm prevention.
In all places we’ve had the privilege to work with some amazing local residents who have been instrumental in finding the perfect locations for a clinic, lodging and helping us in anyway needed to make these clinics as successful as possible.
EDUCATION
In addition to saving lives of many animals through spay and neuter, Baark! also wants to make a long lasting, positive contribution to the community as a whole – and we believe education is the way to do this. Both in Eleuthera and Andros we educated at primary schools using our coloring books to teach children how to care for their pets and be a responsible pet owner.
Whichever neighborhoods we visit, we take the opportunity to educate pet owners on flea, tick and heartworm protection, the importance of shelter for the upcoming summer months, providing water, securing yards etc
