Spay/Neuter Update
Baark! is thrilled to report that in 2024, we facilitated over 5,000 spay and neuter surgeries (including those conducted during Operation Potcake)—a milestone we’re incredibly proud of! This achievement significantly impacts the reduction of the stray animal population and enhances the quality of life for roaming dogs and cats across The Bahamas.
We launched into 2025 with the same unwavering commitment. Our dedicated team has been working tirelessly in the field, ensuring that as many animals as possible receive these vital surgeries. We were also delighted to welcome Dr. Larry Keller from Ohio, a veterinarian and supporter of one of our generous Baark! donors. Dr. Keller had heard about our mission and volunteered his time from January 15th - January 18th. He quickly adapted to our fast-paced operations, and our team thoroughly enjoyed working with him. We’re hopeful that he will return to lend his expertise again in the near future!
Clinics Update
Baark!’s mobile clinic "Cleo" has officially relocated to a new site on the north side of Carmichael Road, east of 'Meat Max' grocery store. This densely populated area presents an incredible opportunity for us to assist even more dogs and cats in need. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to The Punch for hosting us at our previous location and to Caribbean Wines and Powerade for making our new site possible. Their generous support continues to help us make a lasting difference in the community.
In addition to our mobile clinic, we’re excited to announce two upcoming MASH (Mobile Animal Sterilization Hospital) clinics in the Family Islands:
These clinics will provide essential veterinary care and spay/neuter services to animals in areas with limited access to such resources. We look forward to working with local volunteers and veterinarians to make these events a success!
Education Update
Baark! is excited to have our education program back in full swing, bringing interactive learning experiences to schools across the country. Our visits to Claridge Primary, St. Andrew’s, Lend-A-Hand, Sandilands Primary, and Thelma Gibson have been met with enthusiasm and excitement.
The amazing Amy and her education dog, Baghera, continue to lead the charge, teaching young Bahamians about kindness, compassion, responsible pet ownership, and dog safety. Their engaging presentations help foster a deeper understanding of how to care for and coexist with animals. The positive feedback from students, teachers, and parents alike has been truly inspiring, and we look forward to expanding our reach to even more schools in the coming months.
Thank you to all our donors, volunteers, and supporters for making our work possible, as your generosity and commitment enable us to continue improving the lives of animals and communities across The Bahamas.
