Spay/Neuter Update
So far this year, we have completed 2,803 spay and neuter surgeries: 1,681 dogs and 1,122 cats. Of these, 1,807procedures were performed at our mobile clinic, Cleo, based in the Carmichael area, where the majority of our sterilizations take place.
In addition to sterilization, every patient also receives microchips, vaccinations, and anti-parasite treatment. This not only reduces the homeless animal population but also helps create healthier communities, benefitting both animals and people.
We continue to work with the Bahamas Humane Society, supporting their busy shelter by sterilizing animals to make them adoption-ready. Alongside Cleo, our volunteer trapping teams across the island regularly rescue roaming animals and bring them to our local veterinary partners for surgery.
Family Island MASH Clinic Update
We are in the midst of planning three fall MASH clinics with the Baark! team. These include visits to San Salvador and two locations on Eleuthera. Family Island MASH clinics remain essential to reaching remote communities with limited access to veterinary care, and we look forward to sharing results in our next report.
Education Update
Over the summer, our education program paused while schools were closed. As fall begins, we are excited to return to classrooms with our education specialist and learning dog Bagheera. We are planning interactive sessions at Albury Sayle Primary School and will visit as many classrooms as possible.
Through these programs, students continue to learn about the basic needs of pets, safe behavior around animals, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of spay/neuter and adoption.
Closing Note
Thank you for your generosity and contributions, which make all of this work possible. Every surgery, every clinic, and every classroom visit is powered by your support.
As more families and communities reach out to us for help, the demand for our services continues to grow. With your ongoing partnership, we can ensure that every animal we meet has the best possible chance at a healthier, happier life, and that communities across The Bahamas benefit from a kinder, more compassionate future.
