This project will sponsor one year of school for 2,500 girls, covering tuition, books, and uniforms. Instead of housework, street vending, or farm labor, they will be given the chance to sit in a classroom for the first time. Without support, they are excluded from education completely. The financial burden of tuition, books, and uniforms keeps education out of reach for thousands of families living in poverty.
This project will pay for one year of school for 2,500 girls starting school for the first time. Each girl will receive school uniforms, textbooks, and writing materials. They will be placed in nearby public schools and supported through school supply drives. Instead of spending their day working, these girls will begin formal education for the first time.
Helping these girls enter school can break the cycle of poverty in their families. Girls who attend school are more likely to avoid early marriage, earn more income in the future, and care better for their children.
