Kofi Annan said: "Knowledge is power, information is liberating, education is the premise of progress in every society, in every family."
Education is essential for every child and is an important investment for the future. However, many families in Zambia cannot afford all the necessary school supplies and fees. As a result, many children drop out of school. Financial problems are the main reason for this issue, leading to fewer students finishing school and higher drop out rates.
Hear from one of our Sponsor a Child students on how this program has positively impact his life:
"My name is Emmanuel, I started benefiting from the African Impact Foundation's Sponsor A Child program six years ago while I was still in middle school. My mother had a low-income job to care for the family and did not earn enough to provide for me and my siblings' educational needs. Without stationery for school or shoes and knowing you would be sent back home because you still owe school fees for a number of terms, maybe years, it was very easy to lose interest in school and just stay home and indulge in unproductive activities.
I fortunately got a sponsorship through the Sponsor A Child program with African Impact Foundation. It was life changing and the end of the bad days for me. My school fees balance was cleared, I received high quality books, school shoes, a school bag and all the necessary school materials every year. Having everything I needed for school encouraged me to work hard, the hard work resulted in good results and love to acquire an education.
Despite my early years in school being a rough ride and my future being uncertain due to financial challenges, the Sponsor A Child program financed my transition all the way from Primary to Secondary school. I am in my last year of school now, I made it this far while some of my peers dropped out in previous school years. The African Impact Foundation's Sponsor A Child program has positively impacted my life through my journey in school by providing me with all the school necessities and financial aid.
The program encouraged me along with many other school going children to work hard and stay in school for a better future. The program has saved and keeps saving a lot of children from dropping out of school, it keeps changing lives by promoting education as a fundamental human right and the premise of progress in every society, in every family. Thank you African impact foundation for putting a smile on my face to look forward to having a brighter future!!"
