As of exams last week, we have officially completed the second trimester of the Los Algarrobos School year. So far, we are proud to say that we continue to offer quality education and programming!
Environmental Education:
We kicked off the year with the Environmental Day Fair in June. We brought an educational and artistic program to the center of Canoa and a flea market to fundraise for the school. We then hired Bruno, a local agronomy student to give weekly Environmental Education classes at school.
Arts:
For the Environmental Day Fair, we prepared a theater of "The Lorax" and presented it to the public in the center of town. We brought the international traveling children's theater "El Principito" for a performance at school! Finally, our dance team has recently been invited on several occasions to participate in civil ceremonies around the county.
English:
English teachers this year have been making excellent use of the library and computer laboratory. They have also just began rehearsals for the student theatrical production of "Snow White" in English.
Infrastructure:
We have almost completed construction of the new groundskeeper's house and volunteer housing. We also successfully converted an empty lot next door into a soccer field and parking lot with the help of parent volunteers. Finally, we installed two playgrounds with the help of the Classic Autos Club of Quito.
Thanks to your support in sponsorship, over 100 children in Canoa can benefit from this fun and educational programming. Please consider a donation this GIVING TUESDAY on November 28, 2023. The more you donate, the greater our match! Every dollar goes towards keeping our doors open and continuing our important work in Canoa. Thank you so much!
