Sponsor destitute university students in Liberia

We say a very big thanks to our donors and GlobalGiving family for allowing us to excel in our mission. With the help of your donations, we are currently sponsoring fourteen (14) students at the Cuttington University (CU), with the total number of three (3) males and eleven (11) females. This scholarship is intended to give quality education to those who cannot afford to continue their education at university level.

Many of VAAFD beneficiaries are studying primary education with the dream of improving the educational sector in Liberia. VAAFD family believes that Liberia needs a lot of quality teachers that will make the educational sector great. The CEO of VAAFD Mr. Hayes said that he realized many of the students who graduated from the Carolyn A. Miller School ended up in the red-light community as sellers in the market and that they don’t move beyond high school level. “The university sponsorship system allows young people a route out of this.”

The president of the VAAFD scholarship student program, Titus, extends his appreciation to their sponsors and the CEO of VAAFD for a successful semester and for the level of support being offered to them. He said, “We are very thankful to be in the second biggest university in the country”. Titus mentions some financial barriers towards meeting their basic needs on campus: food, rent, sophisticated phones and computers.  He said, they are also seeking further support to continue their studies.

Darius is now a sophomore student at the Cuttington University (CU) and also a beneficiary of the VAAFD scholarship. He is studying secondary education with emphasis in Economics. According to Darius, he chose this path because he believes that Liberia needs a lot of quality teachers that will improve the educational sector in the country. He said, “I am extremely happy for a successful end of semester and for the opportunity given to me to continue my studies.” He expressed his genuine gratitude to the organization and sponsors.

We are encouraging other donor to kindly join our force $45.00 can provide feeding for student per month, $15.00 can pay for a monthly transportation for student, $735.00 can pay for 21 credits at the cost of $35 per credit for tuition fee per student semester fee at Cuttington University and $20.00 can get provision for a student per semester. Please we need your help to move forward with this project. Your generosity means everything to us and to the community we serve.
