Workforce Empowerment Training for Early Childhood Development

By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Leader

An Early Childhood Development (ECD) training program was held in Kamawornie focusing on empowering pre-school educators with the necessary skills and knowledge to foster holistic development in children aged 0-8 years. The training emphasized the importance of integrated development across physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional domains.  Your generous support helped make this impactful training possible.

The three-day training was designed to equip nursery and pre-primary school educators with skills to promote play-based learning using locally available, low-cost materials. Key areas of focus included planning activities that integrate literacy and numeracy, health and safety, responsive caregiving, and community collaboration.

The training employed learner-centered techniques, including pre-tests and post-tests, group presentations, role play, hands-on activities, discussions, and demonstrations. The final day included a debriefing session to evaluate successes and areas for improvement.

Your ongoing support will help to provide additional workforce empowerment training sessions, vocational training, higher education, mentoring, and support to women-owned businesses. These initiatives are crucial for furthering economic independence and social empowerment for women and girls in Sierra Leone. If you are not already a recurring donor, we invite you to set up a recurring donation.

We invite you to share this project with your network and encourage them to support this worthy cause. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and girls in Sierra Leone and beyond.
