Giving an Future to Congo's Orphaned Refugees

By AGIZO JOSUE | CORDINATOR

1. Executive Summary

The project “Sponsor Orphaned Refugee Children in Congo” aims to support 150 orphaned refugee children in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), victims of armed conflicts. These children, deprived of their families, currently live in extreme poverty, lacking access to food, healthcare, education, and protection.
Through comprehensive care, this project seeks to restore dignity, hope, and a brighter future by providing safety, psychosocial support, and empowerment tools.

2. Context and Justification

Successive wars in eastern DRC have left thousands of children orphaned and displaced. Many survive in refugee camps or host communities already facing hardships.
Without urgent intervention, these children face severe risks: malnutrition, illness, exploitation, trafficking, school dropout, and chronic poverty. Investing in their protection today prevents an entire generation from being lost.
