SPONSORING 40 CHILDREN TO GIVE NEW LIFE IN UGANDA

SITUATION CHANGED AFTER FOOD DISTRIBUTION

Firstly we would like to appreciate our generous Global givers network for all the donation helping to purchase food as an opportunity to our children and the givers

We are grateful for the lives that have been saved from hunger, May the almighty God bless the hands that have given for this noble course

Before food was given out the condition of the households was worse threatening to take the lives of some among the caregivers and the community as whole

2% of the households of the caregiver’s relocated to other places in search for food since there was no food in the communities where they live due to drought
Children were trafficked and sent to other nearby places to look for money and food for the survival of the house hold members especially those at the age of 10 to 12 years
15 caregivers left for Kampala and other nearby towns in search for food and petty work to help them sustain their families
The condition of food insecurity prompted some households to engage in theft activities , most families survived out of stealing from other people’s gardens for those who tried to cultivate and had some harvest
We had thirty seven participants who had malnourished and were emaciating day after day
We had some caregiver’s who had requested to be coming to the center on center days just to at least have abite, and eat something for survival because they didn’t have anything to eat at home
90% of the households survived with one or no meal a day , one family when visited had only porridge for break and lunch and had nothing to eat during supper time
Most children could come to the project when they are weak and unable to concentrate especially during center days
Children could fall sick often , statistics show 21 -30% of the participants could fall sick on monthly basis
There was a lot of tramour and children lacked the confidence to play with other mates in the project
Children dropped out of school, 10% of the participants currently didn’t have report cards which depicts the children were no longer attending school and did not do exams due to hunger issues

HOW THE SITUATION CHANGED AFTER FOOD DISTRIBUTION

There is great change in the lives of the caregivers and the children /Participants after the food was distributed

Three caregivers among those who had left their households inserch for better lives returned back and decided they will settle and take care of their homes

Issues of theft have reduced since at least most households had something to eat

We have seen a reduction of sick children on monthly basis to at least 10% unlike before which was 21-30%

At least most households could manage to have more than one meal a day

Caregivers no longer disturb the project by coming during center days to eat the remains from center day food for children

HOW THE SITUATION CHANGED CHILLDREN LIVES OF CHILLDREN

Children falling sick have dropped from 30 % to 10% which shows children needed food to help boost their immunity
Children attendance of center day has increased, participants’ could be absent in most center days but now at least there is some change
We see smiles in children’s faces and are able to concentrate during center days, unlike before most could isolate them selves
We see some among the malnourished children, their bodies have gotten back as they used to, and some have increased in weight when measured after this small time from when they received food
Most children are now participating in games and sports due to food supplied most come to the Centre when they have at least eaten something
School enrolment is at 100% meaning food distribution has played a great role in the lives of the participants

CHALLENGES FACED DURING FOOD RELIEF DISTRIBUTION

Supplier delayed suppling food on time as expected due to large sums of tones for beans and posho as well
It was challenging to supply food to only caregivers this is because the whole community expected some help to be given to them as well since the whole population was experiencing food insecurity

Conclusion

Food relief has done great in the lives of the participants and the caregivers, it’s our prayer that they are able to sustain their selves even when the food gets deleted,

Hopefully most will get some harvest in this second season, so they can be able to sustain their families, some have grown potatoes, cassava and beans

Quarterly Report October

We are thankful to the generous individual who have change the life of the only one child sponsored so far! Education is vital to breaking the cycle of poverty but school in Uganda is not free. As a Child Sponsor, you will make a huge difference in the life of vulnerable child by giving them the gift of education.

The cost for sponsoring a child is $40 a month. This cost covers not only the school fees but also other necessities that the child requires in order to attend school. This includes shoes, uniform, school books, pencils, medical care, school meals and anything else they may need to fully participate in their education. We allocate children to sponsors depending on the needs and family situation of the child, starting with the neediest child first.

We are still struggling with the 40 children with dire need for help. Change a child’s life today by giving them the gift of education.

With our 23 admitted children for pre-primary education, last term we only fully paid up tuition for onl 17 children and 6 were pending for payment.

We are so grateful to generous people like you who made thi possible! The new education term has begun two weeks ago. This term rquires us $ 1,278 to full pay of school fees and requirements for 23 learners for this term.

This will cover termly fees, scholarstic materials and other school requirments.

Our Child sponsorship is a unique program that connects one child in need with one compassionate person like you! This program is giving children our children a chance to grow up healthy, educated, and safe - forever changing their life and future. You just might find that it changes you, too.

Our plans

we intend to connect the sponsored childen with the donors i.e. do letter writting
We plan to continue with classroom construction to start a school for the sponsored children so that the money we are using for sponsoring 23 children can cater for more 30 children.

Sponsoring a child is the most personal, effective way to fight poverty. When we sponsor a child in need, we build a special relationship that encourages the child with hope for the future. The support helps to pursue the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of vulnerable children. When we sponsor a child, we also hope to help provide essentials like clean water, nutrition, education, and more as planned with the child's community, while we connect through letters and photos.

Thanks to the generous past and future investment in this project by our donors through GlobalGiving we will be able to complete construction of the Center, hire staff and purchase needed supplies allowing us to educate children below five years of age so they can thrive and reach their boundless potential.
