Spreading Joys - Biporjoy Cyclone Affected

Summary

This is no Joy in Biporjoy Cycolne. The Biporjoy cyclone was very devastating and affected people in Gujarat; mainly in Saurashtra and Kutch regions on 15th June 2023. This severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 125-135 kmph. Many poor people lost their Kacchha houses in this cyclone. The poor people and people with disabilities have lost their livelihood means, BPA has intiaiated relief work in affected areas by providing Ration kits, assistive devices, and livelihood.

Challenge

The Biporjoy has affected thousands of people in Gujarat, they have lost their shelters, and livelihoods. The relief work and rehabilitation work have been started by the Government of Gujarat. The people with disabilities who lost their livelihood, require immediate support for their survival. They are at risk of starvation, diseases. The project will cover 1000 people with disabilities who are affected by the Biporjoy cyclone.

Solution

BPA provides nutrition, medicines, health check-up, and assistive device support to people with disabilities and their family members. These affacted people will also provided trainings, and tool kit to start business for leading and living indepdent life.

Long-Term Impact

The project will provide relief and rehabilitation support to 1000 people with disabilities in affected areas.
