This project promotes self-sustainability in women through a unique program called the Mahila Gruha Udyog, a women-focused institute where SRLC provides infrastructure, tools & networks to allow women to build & sell handmade products. All revenue is pumped back into the program, ensuring self-sustainability. The aim is to uplift the status of women across rural villages. Currently, 160 women are part of the program & with your support, our goal is to expand the program to 140 additional women.
Investing in gender equality and women's empowerment can unlock human potential on a transformational scale. Yet, discrimination against women is rampant in rural Indian society, where women are struggling with poverty, low education and poor health. The pandemic has left millions of wage workers job-less and women are looking for alternate ways to support their struggling families.
This project enables self-sustainability and entrepreneurship for women by providing them with infrastructure, tools & networks to build & sell their handmade products. All revenue is either paid as salary or pumped back into the program, ensuring self-sustainability of the program, and support for additional women in months ahead. Currently there are 160 women in the program and this project will empower 140 more women by expanding facilities and increasing distribution channels.
1) A model that can be replicated in additional regions of the world 2) Empowerment of even more women in future through expansion of this program 3) Break the status quo of traditional Indian society and inspire others. 4) Protecting these and additional women from domestic violence 5) Self sustainability of 300 women as successful entrepreneurs 6) Escape from poverty for 300 women and their families
