Paintings from the art show and sale
After many years of dreaming of this day and months of preparation, the Youlou Art Centre and Gallery was launched on March 4th. All went well! The event was very festive, a lovely evening with perfect weather. A large crowd of art lovers attended the celebration. The walls were filled with paintings from local artists, there was wine and cheese, and music from the South East Steel Orchestra. It was indeed a very special evening for Youlou Arts Foundation, the realization of the dream of establishing and Art Centre and Gallery for St. Vincent and the Grenadines!
.
Mr. Cecil Mckie, the minister of tourism, sports and culture, addressed the audience, congratulating the organization on its's persistence in fund raising towards it's goal, the first of it's kind on the island. Then it was time to cut the ribbon, declaring the centre open. This was done by Camille Saunders Musser, founder of Youlou Arts Foundation.
Also sharing the launch event was the 3rd annual Art Show and Sale, featuring 15 local artists. There was a display of paintings on canvas, photography, and sculpture, roughly 60 pieces of art work.
Having an Art Centre and Gallery is a grand accomplishment but to keep it sustainable is a completely other story! Donors I know you have supported us in the past and I sincerely hope you will continue to give us your financial support. It is alway greatly appreciated. The centre is here to stay! Your support is needed.
