The “Nido d’ape” (Beehive) kindergarten re-opened after Summer on September 10th for 7 kids who had already attended school last year. On September 14th, 3 new boys started their settling-in period and they have been recently joined by 2 girls. 2 new children are still waiting to enter the nursery. All of them are foreigners: 4 come from Sri Lanka, 4 from Peru, 2 from the Philippines, 1 from Senegal, 1 from Ukraine. There is a waiting list of 2 girls aged less than 18 months who will probably start attendance during the year.
For the school year 2015-16, as for the previous ones, the nursery service will be coupled with parenting support, counseling, tutoring and mentoring for mothers to promote their reinsertion in the labor market and a better housing situation. The pediatrician also renewed her voluntary engagement for the “Nido d’ape” children.
A major change in the service is planned for October since the kindergarten will be able to provide children with lunch. The sisters of the nearby St. Anthony Institute will prepare a meal not only for the children attending their pre-school and primary school but also for the kids enrolled in the nursery.
There have already been two meetings with parents: one to welcome the families (or welcome them back) and another to communicate the news concerning lunch.
