Challenge

In Ghana, the average student to teacher ratio is 50 to 1. Our partner schools are poorly supplied with educational materials and necessary resources especially for STEM. Teachers simply don't have the requisite teaching aids they need to reach their students and the students are literally left behind in the 21st century, struggling to keep up literacy levels and not being exposed to computers, they lack basic technology skills, and do not have access to STEM programs especially in rural areas.

Solution

This project will enable us to provide schools with STEM materials like science exploration kits, tables, laptops, robotic kits, lego blocks, k'nexs, snap circuit discovery kits, etc. to promote innovation and creativity which will inspire these students to ignite social change. Together we can help these children develop the valuable 21st century skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity by engaging in exploration and learning how things work.

Long-Term Impact

To provide 10 schools with basic STEM supplies to aid in creating an environment that promotes innovation, creativity and critical thinking. Additionally, proving basic STEM supplies would help create an environment for students to explore scientific issues and think critically about the world around them. We hope improve mathematics and science skills for those involved, and also help create innovative thinkers who have a desire to learn, who can logically think through and solve problems.
