Your support in action

By Philippe Socka | Project Leader

Dear Friends,

A few months ago, we promoted our STEM through Basketball initiative in conjunction with our local partner school’s annual fair. With the overwhelming success of the annual fair, we have received an increase demand of participant. Now, our enrollment reached 65 participants, boys, girls combined, and we expect the number to continue to rise.

During the past three months, we focused on two objectives: First, we provided informative session related to STEM based-curriculum to few participant teachers as well as an overall understanding of STEM concept to new and old participant students. We previously planned to engage our participant students for 13 weeks, 4 hours per week per student for STEM and basketball information session; we were obliged to reduce the hour to 26, but kept the time to 13 weeks, 2 hours per week per student. This was because we had limited fund to financially support our after school educational STEM session and we only had one volunteer program coordinator available per week.

Secondly, we accomplished to purchased 60 reversible jerseys, 60 shorts, 20 basketballs, 2 basketball nets, 15 flexible vinyl cones, 20 speed ropes, 4 basketball whistles, 3 stop watches and 2 basketball dry coach clipboards along with other minors basketball accessories. We managed to ship those basketball jerseys and accessories to Cameroon. We thank our local team for the great job they did to facilitate coordinating the receiving of the materials. In addition, we restored a broken basketball hoop located in our local partner school so we can launch our first basketball clinic this coming summer. We are looking forward to attract, nurture, and inspire young boys and girls via our basketball clinic this summer. This is why your donation is extremely valuable to us and to the youth we serve.
