School Costs Push Gwari Girls Out of Education

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for supporting the Stop 2000 Teen Girls in Abuja from Missing School project. Although the project is still in its early stage, your support shows that there are people who care about the future of girls whose education is threatened by poverty.

The Gwari people are the original inhabitants of Abuja. Many families have experienced major economic hardship following the loss of farmland that once provided food and income. Today, numerous households struggle to meet basic needs, making school expenses difficult to afford. When resources are limited, girls are frequently the first to be affected.

At present, no meaningful funding has been secured to begin implementation of this project. More support is needed before beneficiary selection, enrollment support, and educational assistance can commence.

The project intends to support 2,000 Gwari girls across different levels of education, from primary school through university. Assistance will include school fees, books, uniforms, and follow-up support to help girls remain in school and continue their studies successfully.

Behind every number is a girl with hopes for a better future. Many are eager to learn but face the possibility of leaving school because their families cannot meet educational costs. Without support, some may never complete their education despite having the ability and determination to succeed.

We remain committed to this initiative and continue seeking the resources required to begin the first phase. Once implementation starts, we will share updates, photographs, and stories from the beneficiaries whose lives will be touched by your generosity.

Thank you for standing with indigenous girls whose education is at risk. Your kindness gives hope that they will have the opportunity to stay in school and pursue their dreams.

Warm regards,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
