Safe Water to Stop Cholera

By AGIZO JOSUE | CORDINATOR

Introduction
The Stop Cholera, Give Clean Water project aims to support vulnerable families in South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, who are facing a cholera outbreak. Thousands of displaced people live in unsanitary conditions without access to clean water. This critical situation puts children at high risk, suffering from acute diarrhea and high fever.

Project Objective

  • Provide immediate access to safe drinking water through chlorination sites.
  • Significantly reduce the spread of cholera in high-risk areas.
  • Raise community awareness on hygiene and waterborne disease prevention.
  • Strengthen long-term community resilience in public health.

Project Progress

  • Total budget: $85,000
  • Amount raised so far: $51, thanks to collaboration with GlobalGiving
  • Current phase: Identification of trainers and learners

With the partnership of GlobalGiving, we are confident in achieving our goal and providing sustainable solutions to affected families.

Expected Impact

  • Significant reduction of cholera cases in targeted communities.
  • Access to clean water for thousands of families.
  • Children can return to school instead of hospital beds.
  • Communities will gain long-term ability to prevent waterborne diseases.
