Nigeria's confirmation of an imported Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease case in Abuja on October 20, 2026, is a timely reminder that public health preparedness must never be neglected. According to health authorities, contact tracing has begun, and 44 contacts were initially identified for monitoring. The World Health Organization has urged Nigerians to remain calm, rely on trusted information, and cooperate with public health guidance.
For children, reliable information is particularly important. Many young people have never experienced an Ebola outbreak and may not understand how infectious diseases spread or what actions can help protect their communities.
Empower Future Initiative (EFI) is committed to promoting child-focused Ebola awareness, hygiene education, and community health preparedness across Nigeria. Through this project, we aim to help children understand basic prevention measures, recognize when someone needs medical attention, avoid misinformation, and know when to seek help from trusted adults.
Our goal is prevention through education, not fear. Children deserve age-appropriate information that empowers them to make safer decisions and share responsible health messages with their families.
