Project Report | Aug 13, 2018
We now have 40 bookings for baby delivery

By Veronika Cejpkova | Project Manager

Hello everyone

This is just to let everyone who supported and still supports this project know, that our team is excellent, and we get only positive feedback on our gynaecogical and maternity services, so it really makes me very happy!

Our obstetrician Dr Mundaka is not just very professional but he is also a very good leader. He took the maternity department onto his hands and he really cares about it.

We all care about it as this one is the only self-sustainable income generating project and we all hope that in the future, it can help us fund more than just it’s own activities.

As much as it is an income generating project, all of our female employees and some of our beneficiaries get services free of charge - in case they need it.

Our prices and costs are still very affordable and during a full child delivery each mother is required to pay one off £105, which does really help our funding, but they still get all medicine (if needed) and complimentary three meals a day (for mother and her carer), there is also free water and a WiFi.

We have 24 hour doctors and midwives available and Anastetical officers in case of any surgical emergency.

We operate only for about three months, but we already have 40 antenatal appointments where all of them booked for delivery at our hospital.

We have delivered 10 babies normally and 5 other by C-section (2 of them as an emergency c-section).

We have also had 2 obstetric surgeries

All babies are being treated and attended to free of charge after delivery and all post natal appointment are free too.

We also have an amazing hearing test machine as the only one in Uganda, and we test each newborn baby for its hearing abilities.

I thank to every donor who helped us make this happen. The maternity project gives Whisper a big hope for the future and we absolutely love every bit of it.
