Strengthening Community Care and Support Systems in Misanjo Community intends to improve communities care and support mechanisms towards sustainable means of livelihood for the orphans, widows, the elderly and other vulnerable children in Misanjo community in T/A Mabuka by 2020 through the provision of vocational skills (tailoring), piggery production and the provision of bursary scheme for the needy girls in the area. The project will benefit 50 most marginalized women and 10 needy girls.
The lack of finances, socio-economic activities, care and support for orphans and other vulnerable children including people living with HIV/AIDS as major problems in the area. The baseline survey conducted also unearthed food insecurity as one major challenge since guardians, who are mostly bread winners, abandon farming due to poor health thereby resulting into many affected children dropping out of school hence assuming a parental role at a tender age.
Beneficiaries, particularly women can be engaged in vocational skills training (Tailoring) and in pig production so as to improve household income and livelihoods, the girl child shall be provided with school necessities and sanitary materials so as go ahead with their education journey so as to achieve Education for All (EFA) goals.
Economically empower the project target population in Misanjo Community with skills, knowledge and resources in order for them to strengthen care and community support mechanisms for the vulnerable groups through sustainable means of livelihood both at household and community levels by 2020.
