Program update
In our last update, we wrote that Champey Academy continues to set attendance records. We continue to see strong support in our programs where, consistently, on an average day we can see between 75 and 90 students, with numbers reaching more than 120 on school and other holiday periods.
Our schedule remains consistent: we offer two time blocks for instruction each day, 6 days per week. Each time block offers 3 ½ hours of FREE instruction with a 30 minute break in between each class time block. In plain English, this means that 6 days a week , Monday through Saturday, we have crowds of laughing, smiling, happy kids taking advantage of our classes at Champey Academy of Arts . These happy kids receive free instruction in their chosen area whether that is traditional Cambodian music, traditional Cambodian dance or Cambodian Art and Painting. We see 55% of our students participating in our Dance Classes, 30% in Drawing and Painting and 15% in our Music classes. All of these classes are possible only because of the wonderful support of you, our donors.
Upcoming New Year Lunch Party for our students
Khmer ( Cambodian ) New year is coming fast with the three day holiday on April 14, 15, NDS 15. During this period of time we will see our attendance swell and as is our tradition, we will offer a modest “ lunch party “ on one of the days which will not doubt, if history is any guide, see record attendance. It is a joyful time for our students and we all look forward to it!
Although our students do receive education in the arts, above that they learn team skills, the relationship between effort and achievement and a sense of personal confidence that comes by learning, trying and achieving excellence.
