In the aftermath and destruction of Super Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, the Fuel Relief Fund deployed to Tacloban City, capitol city of the Philippine province Leyte. Fuel Relief Fund has been providing gas and diesel to aid individuals, other non-profit non-government organizations, medical groups, the United Nations and affiliated agencies, local police department, etc. for use in generators and vehicles.
The Fuel Relief Fund team is mainly operating out of a couple of Petron service stations where Fuel Relief Fund began giving fuel to the government and non-government organizations so that they could begin and continue their operations and aid to the local people in need. Next, the fueling was concentrated to the citizens of the local community. Fuel Relief Fund is in the process of finalizing logistics to begin mobile operations in order to expand the area of relief, which should be in the next few days.
Fuel is an important and critical need after any disaster such as Super Typhoon Haiyan. The fuel that is provided to individuals and organizations is used to power generators, vehicles, and other equipment needed to provide essential aid to those affected by the natural disaster.
Fuel Relief Fund is a global, non-profit organization providing free fuel immediately after a major disaster. It has responded to incidents including Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Haiti, Japan’s earthquake and tsunami
disaster, the major earthquake in Turkey, and Hurricane Sandy.
