Fuel Relief Fund has been busy setting up multiple areas for fuel distribution. Fuel Relief Fund has been operating for several days out of two Petron service stations in Tacloban City, One station has been mostly servicing other
NGO’s, or non-government organizations, local police and services, and United Nations agencies. It is critical to
provide the fuel to keep the generators, lights, equipment, and vehicles of these aid relief agencies so that they can deliver and administer their unique and important services to the Filipino people. The second station has mainly been open to service individuals and families that need fuel for vehicles and generators. Fuel Relief Fund is providing both gas and diesel to those in need.
The Fuel Relief Fund team has also begun mobile operations in the past few days to get out into the surrounding communities in Northern Leyte where the citizens have not been able to travel the few hours to Tacloban
to receive any aid. Locations include the fishing village of Carigara, the inland village of Alangalang, and others. The area will be expanded over the next few days.
The fuel that Fuel Relief Fund is providing to other aid organizations is important to the work that is being done in Tacloban City and to allow these organizations to fuel vehicles and mobile generators so that they can begin to travel into the outlying communities and provide aid, food, medical attention, and other services for the people in these towns and villages. Fuel Relief is working with the UN, Red Cross, UNICEF, Doctors without Borders, and many organizations from several different countries.
Fuel Relief Fund appreciates the support of Global Giving and all of the donors and contributors to this project. Thousands of people are receiving fuel and additional aid and comfort as a result.
Fuel Relief Fund is a global, non-profit organization providing free fuel immediately after a major disaster. It has responded to incidents including Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Haiti, Japan’s earthquake and tsunami
disaster, the major earthquake in Turkey, and Hurricane Sandy.
