Imagine if a teen mom would not face enormous obstacles to complete school after baby delivery? This project will support 13- 19 years old, 100 teenage mothers to complete tertiary education, providing learning materials, a baby upkeep Centre, skills training and advocacy campaign to reduce the rate of school dropout due to early pregnancy in Kibera. With effective support, teen moms will rise against their past to achieve their dreams and advocate to end teenage pregnancy in their community.
"I was forced to engage in early sexual relationship to raise money to feed my siblings, my father was always drunk after 2 months I never saw my period and that is how I got my baby.I wish I can get a safe baby Centre to take my baby for me to continue with education, learn a skill to help me earn income". 80% of Girls shed tears narrating their stories about school drop out and they can't imagine that is how their dream was shuttered. This project gives girls hope to a better future.
Through the safe baby Centre, teen moms will bring their babies daily to allow the girls to go to school, the education support program will provide school learning requirements and offer private tuition for the girls to improve their performance and skills training will give them an avenue to learn to produce handcrafts products for sale to help earn income to sustain their families. End teenage pregnancy Advocacy campaign will empower girls and the community to fight against school dropout.
The project will support 100 teen moms to complete education allowing them to rise out of poverty, gaining financial independence, employ others, pay for siblings' education & improve living conditions for their families. Our young mothers are financially stable and supporting their kids without male dependency which always contributes to another baby. In addition it will reduce the rate of school drop out due to early pregnancy by 90 % at a period of one year and Indirectly countrywide.
