Traditionally the number of people sleeping together is higher on valentines day than it is on any other day of the year. Especially in Thailand. And so our team went out to raise awareness and help young people protect themselves against the risks of (unprotected) sex.
Together with the provincial public health office of Mukdahan province, our Mukdahan team organized an event to raise awareness. We visited places where young people tend to hang out, like local markets. Raising HIV awareness among Thai youngsters is crucial in preventing the spread of the virus and reducing stigma. Despite medical advancements, many young people lack proper knowledge about transmission and prevention.
Misconceptions and social taboos often prevent open discussions, leading to risky behaviors. Education can empower youth to make informed choices, practice safe sex, and seek early testing. Additionally, raising awareness fosters empathy, reducing discrimination against those living with HIV. Schools, social media, and community programs must play a key role in spreading accurate information. Investing in HIV education today ensures a healthier, more informed generation for Thailand’s future.
