Support 200 Women Start Small Businesses in Turkey

Dear KEDV supporters,

We wish you all the best in 2024! And we want to thank you for your continued support to low income women in Türkiye and KEDV.

Since our last report in October 2023, we were able to raise 1440 USD to give micro loans to 11 women entrepreneurs. The businesses that were supported were either homebased, in shops, or in the market place. They included running a grocery store, running a gift shop, producing amigurumi toys, selling food supplements, selling clothes for children and adults, and producing home made food, producing upcycled home accessories from glass, producing upcycled earrings and accessories. The women were able to buy inputs for their production activities, production equipment and tools, and the items to sell, with the help of the loans.

We know how vital the micro businesses are for low income women and the impact the micro loans have in supporting women in continuing and improving their businesses. KEDV will continue to work for supporting this mission in the years to come; however, we will be closing this project in GlobalGiving and we ask you to donate to our new project that we put on GlobalGiving to support women and children that were impacted by the February 2023 earthquake in Türkiye. As you may know, this earthquake resulted in the loss of more than 50,000 lives and displaced thousands of people in 11 provinces. KEDV is opening women and children centers in the area to support the women and children in rebuilding their lives after this tragedy and will continue this project at least for 3 years to ensure we carry our support until the cities are rebuilt.
