Lack of Prenatal Care Puts Mothers/Babies at Risks

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for supporting the Support 3,000 Pregnant Women with Prenatal Care project. We sincerely appreciate your generosity and concern for mothers and babies in underserved communities.

Pregnancy can become dangerous when women do not receive regular medical attention. In many rural and low-income communities, expectant mothers face barriers such as transportation costs, long distances to clinics, and the inability to pay for tests, medicines, and routine checkups. As a result, conditions such as anemia, infections, high blood pressure, and other pregnancy-related complications may go undetected until they become life-threatening.

We are grateful for the donations received so far. However, the funds currently available are not sufficient to begin implementation of the project. Additional support is needed before beneficiary enrollment, clinic support activities, procurement of supplements and delivery kits, transportation assistance, and community outreach can commence.

This project aims to connect 3,000 pregnant women with prenatal care services and provide support such as pregnancy screening, supplements, health education, clean delivery kits, and transportation assistance where needed. Women will also receive information on pregnancy danger signs, nutrition, newborn care, and the importance of skilled delivery services.

Regular prenatal care helps identify health concerns early and increases the chances of safer pregnancies and healthier births. Access to timely care can reduce complications, improve maternal health, and support healthy growth and development for babies before birth.

We remain committed to implementing this project and continue working toward the resources needed to launch the first phase. As progress is made, we look forward to sharing updates, photographs, and stories from the mothers and families who will benefit from this support.

Thank you for helping protect the health of pregnant women and giving babies a stronger start in life.

Warm regards,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
