We begin this report by expressing our sincere gratitude to GlobalGiving, our donors, and the Social Impact Enterprise arm of SOHF for their continued support of our mission. Dementia remains a growing health concern in Nigeria, and many elderly individuals face the devastating effects of memory loss, confusion, and social abandonment.
Through the “Support 350 Old People with Dementia in Imo State” initiative, we continue to provide critical assistance—ensuring care, respect, and dignity for vulnerable seniors. Your generosity is making a difference where it matters most.
Funding Overview
During this quarter, we received a total of $175 in financial support for the project:
$18 from GlobalGiving
$157 from SOHF’s Social Impact Enterprise
This funding has been judiciously utilized to deliver targeted support to elderly dementia patients in Imo State.
Activities and Impact
1. Direct Support for Dementia Patients
We utilized the funds to:
Purchase medication and medical supplies: $95
Provide caregiver training workshops: $50
Community outreach and awareness materials (transport, flyers, etc.): $25
Miscellaneous support and logistics: $5
Total Expenditure: $175
Balance: $0
2. Caregiver Training and Support
We held structured training sessions aimed at empowering caregivers to:
Understand and manage the symptoms of dementia
Offer emotional support to patients
Apply basic therapeutic and calming techniques
Promote hygiene and dignity in caregiving
This has significantly improved the standard of care among our target population.
3. Community Outreach and Awareness
We expanded our advocacy efforts in local communities by:
Holding sensitization forums for families and caregivers
Distributing flyers and posters to combat stigma
Engaging local health workers and faith leaders in awareness drives
These steps have helped improve public understanding of dementia and reduced social stigma around it.
New Development: Partnership with Isidore CompetitivAI Avatar
On July 20, 2025, SOHF formally entered into a technological collaboration with Isidore CompetitivAI Avatar, an intelligent AI system designed to optimize humanitarian operations.
This partnership brings transformative potential to our dementia support initiative by:
Enhancing Data Collection: Accurate tracking of patient histories, medication needs, and caregiver routines.
Streamlining Communication: Automating follow-ups with caregivers and alert systems for emergencies.
Scaling Outreach: AI-generated advocacy materials tailored to various community needs.
Boosting Fundraising Efforts: Improved donor engagement through AI-curated reports and storytelling.
With this innovation, we’re poised to run a more efficient, responsive, and scalable program for dementia care—paving the way for smarter humanitarian delivery.
Challenges Faced
Despite our progress, the project still faces the following challenges:
Limited Funding: Demand exceeds current resources. More financial backing is essential to reach all 350 targets.
Stigma and Awareness Gaps: Many communities still misunderstand dementia, hampering early diagnosis and care.
Shortage of Skilled Caregivers: We need more trained hands to handle increasing caseloads with compassion and professionalism.
Future Outlook
Our vision for the next quarter includes:
1. Scaling Up Services: Expanding support to reach at least 100 more dementia patients.
2. Strengthening Caregiver Networks: Offering more training, resources, and support systems.
3. Expanding Hospital Partnerships: Working with local clinics to provide integrated care plans.
4. Launching a Dementia HelpLine: Powered by AI, offering real-time guidance and emergency responses.
5. Intensifying Fundraising and CSR Engagements: To secure consistent funding for sustainability.
Conclusion
The Support 350 Old People with Dementia in Imo State project is steadily making a meaningful impact. While we have miles to go, your support has helped us build momentum and deliver essential care to some of society’s most vulnerable.
We invite continued collaboration, funding, and advocacy as we scale our impact—strengthened by innovative partnerships like Isidore CompetitivAI Avatar. Together, we can ensure no elderly person with dementia is left behind.
With sincere appreciation,
