COVID-19 affects every category of persons in the world irrespective of age, sex, gender and social status. In Cameroon, about 12000 people have been infected. The barrier measures put in place by Government and WHO are yet o be taken serious by the rural communities. The project will target mostly the poor women, girls and old people in these communities. The Main objective of this project is to educate, sensitize and provide preventive materials to these rural communities in line with COVID19
The problem is that many people in rural areas are less informed, less educated and ignorant. Our intention is to limit the spread of this pandemic in the communities in we work. Our support in terms of material and education will spur the communities to become highly aware of the danger that this pandemic can cause to them, their families and the communities at large. Most of these rural community members still do not belief that the COVID 19 pandemic is real, even though people are dying.
We will seriously embark on an education and sensitization campaign in these communities to continue raising awareness on the effects of the pandemic. In this regard we shall develop tools necessary for the activity to be carried out, purchase and distribute materials and tools necessary to fight the pandemic in these communities and ensure that these materials are effectively put into use by the end-users. Some community mobilisers shall be taken on board to ensure that the objective is achieved
COVID 19 will seriously affect the development community. Livelihoods will suffer financially, economically and psychologically. Household incomes will considerably drop due to inactivity, there will be loss of employment since many people have been confined at home; consequently a drop in the boom of the local economy. On the other hand if the measures put in place by the WHO and various Governments are not stringently respected by communities, the rate of infection will continue to rise.
